Whenever I get the chance, I always make it a point to scan through my Google Reader dashboard, which is mostly made up of blogs on fashion, travel, nail polish, music, food — stuff I like to write about also.
For the clueless: Google Reader allows the user to “star” items he/ she might like to refer back to (it’s much like “liking” a post on Facebook or WordPress). I have a hundred, if not a thousand, on my starred items, and below are a few recent ones.
1 | Our Awesome Planet’s Guide to Pagudpud (Read here.)
I’m always in search of a good adventure and Our Awesome Planet never fails to feature adventure-worthy food trips. Their downloadable guide to Pagudpud got me all pumped to visit the beautiful town (I’ve never been)! It’s a very visually appealing Pagudpud primer, and the way in which it was presented reminded me so much of my work in the school paper, infographics and all.
Also among my starred items is Our Awesome Planet’s entry on Midnight Mercato, which, I would imagine, is every foodie’s ultimate dream. Like Pagudpud, I’ve never been to Mercato. But I’ve heard great things about that particular food market/ bazaar. I can’t wait to go on a Mercato food trip soon!
2 | The Beauty Department’s Mani Monday (Read here.)
Here’s a confession: I don’t know how to prettify my nails with designs — flowers, animal prints, stripes, and such — but I am looking to learn the ropes someday. Someday! :)
How cute is this polka dot design?
I love this hairstyle, but I can’t quite work it because of my bangs and layered hair — my efforts always come out messy. Or maybe I’m just doing things wrong? (I am guessing it’s this.)
Here is another cutesy hairstyle that I would like to try one of these days:
4 | The Shoe Snob’s Top 5 Pretty Pastels: Do the Bunny Hop (Read here.)
I was instantly drawn to this feature — these pastel babies are just too beautiful! I am in love with all of them, save for the Acne one which I think looks a bit too mature. I can’t quite pick which between the Miu Miu and YSL pairs I like more.
5 | Camille Co’s Put Yourself in My Shoes (Read here.)
6 | Olivia Palermo’s How to Have a Healthy Love Life: 5 Tips from Deepak Chopra (Read here.)
I’ve no idea why I starred this article, but I did anyway. Hahaha.
1. Listen non-judge mentally
2. Express genuine appreciation of something you notice about the other person.
3. Show affection – let the person know you care.
4. Don’t be afraid to hug or show physical affection, as appropriate.
5. Never play victim. Refrain from complaints, criticisms or condemnation.
7 | Teen Vogue’s Spring 2012 Runway Trend: Dressed-Up Shorts (Read here.)
meghanangier asked: I read your post “The Divine Feminine” and found it to be an absolutely perfect vocalization of my feelings. But I struggle daily with this concept because I cannot find the line that is drawn between being truly feminine and being the masculine concept of feminine, specifically the concept of beauty. Knowing that the fashion and makeup world is an extremely masculine concept of femininity, where do you find your true femininity, the piece unaffected by the intense pull of a masculine industry?
… because I like a good brain workout. :) This blog, by the way, is ran by Brandon Boyd’s girlfriend. She’s pretty interesting and intelligent, that Baelyn.
9 | Cupcakes and Cashmere’s Everyday Make-up (Watch here.)
Among my many guilty pleasures is watching make-up tutorials becuase I only know how to apply the basics! :( So hallelujah for people like Emily who share their make-up knowhow to clueless girls like myself.
10 | The Bag Lady’s Kate Spade springtime wicker bag (Read here.)
Such a wonderful alternative to the satchel. My lusting over Kate Spade prettiness is nothing new. I love her work!Photos were grabbed from all over the Internet.
