When I’m up for good but cheap food, Chicken Bacolod always comes to mind. I’ve been a happy customer since high school, and I remember frequenting the place back in college (their Katipunan branch is right across my school). The good thing about Chicken Bacolod is this: they’ve been fairly consistent with the quality of their food so, of course, I keep coming back!
Chicken Skin (PhP65). I almost always remove the skin before biting into a chicken piece, but when in Chicken Bacolod, miracles happen: I actually eat chicken skin! Lots of ‘em! Whoa!!! Chicken Bacolod’s is sooo crunchy and so so so perfect when dipped in vinegar. One of my family’s favorite ChicBac appetizers for sure (the other being their Batchoy)!
Paa (PhP96) and plain rice (PhP25). Hey world, meet my favorite chicken inasal. It’s the best I’ve ever tried, with Mang Inasal’s offering coming in at second place. Chicken Bacolod’s paa is both tender and crispy–definitely a gift from heaven when dipped in the soy sauce-vinegar concoction that customers have grown to love.
Chocnut Ice Cream (PhP85). Even if this is just vanilla ice cream topped with Chocnut bits (therefore a dish that you can easily whip up in your own home), I still always fall for it come dessert time. What is it about Chicken Bacolod’s Chocnut Ice Cream that gets me–gets me hard!!–each time? I have no clue, really. All I know is that this dessert wins hard in life-who knew two very simple ingredients (vanilla ice cream + Chocnut) could be such a dream in the mouth?
