I’d like to introduce you to my new happy place: Chez Karine Bakery, located in Serendra, Bonifacio Global City. I love this place, and the photo above will tell you why. I’m a big dessert foodie so when I saw a TV feature on this shop some few weeks ago, I made sure to drop by on my next Serendra visit.
Chez Karine is French for “Karen’s Place”. It’s owned by pastry chef Karen Yang who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and interned for Chef Pierre Herme. Her quaint little bakery is best known for macarons and pudding (that come in cutesy jars that you can take home). Chez Karine also offers other treats like toast, tarts, and cookies. Yummy!
What did I get? Strawberry and Lemon Macarons, of course! They also have macarons in earl grey, caramel, dark chocolate, milk chocolate passionfruit, and pistachio. Admittedly, Chez Karine’s macarons aren’t the best I’ve ever had, but they are pretty OK. They still got me smiling after each bite (like I always do when I’m feasting on macarons). A bit expensive though for PhP50 a piece, don’t you think? Oh and they crumble easily.
The macarons were great with coffee. I loved their Cafe Mocha (PhP120)–the flavors blended quite well and the caffeine wasn’t overpowering. I especially liked that the temperature of the drink was just right when served. Don’t you just hate it when you can’t immediately sip your coffee because it’s too damn hot?
How cute is their menu? :) Click to enlarge. This link will direct you to their official website. Visit Chez Karine today! :) The shop is sandwiched between Sonja’s Cupcakes and Gelatissimo. Dessert heaven! :)
