For my dad’s birthday (it’s tomorrow, September 26), we decided to get him goodies other than the usual birthday cake. I thought customized pastries were the next best thing so I immediately ordered a few treats from Sugar Stop, the brainchild of my high school batch mates Marjee Mendoza and Jin Buzon, and their friend Tonico Maningat. They do cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and other treats that can be customized to suit your liking.
First up are these awesome chocolate cookies — sooo perfect for my corporate and sporty dad! This was my peg for these cookies, and I dare say Marj did a great job recreating the idea into these Sugar Stop cookies. The cookies are priced at PhP15 a piece.
And then I saw this cool cake on the Sugar Stop blog, and thought to myself, “I want one of those for Pop’s birthday!” But I realized that our house is forever bursting with desserts, so a whole cake would be a bit much to take. So I resorted to a cupcake version of the photo cake, a challenge the Sugar Stop took on without reservation! How cute are these? Each cupcake is priced at PhP95. They come in either chocolate or lemon vanilla.
Check out more of Sugar Stop’s products here. They were the same team behind my birthday cookies that came in the form of things I love most: clothes, books, and nail polish! Not only do they look great, they taste amaaaazing, too! The closest chocolate-y thing I can associate them with are Dunkin’ Donuts’ choco glazed donuts and Krispy Kreme’s glazed chocolate cake doughnut. To die for!!!
