Check out this new-ish restaurant in Greenbelt 5: La Petite Camille. Apparently La Petite Camille is a popular choice for Vietnamese grub, and it takes its roots from San Francisco, California. It was brought to Manila by the same group behind other Asian restaurants, Nanbantei of Tokyo, Super Bowl of China, and Yomenya Goemon (which I haven’t tried).
If I’m not mistaken, La Petite Camille has taken over the old space of Travel Cafe, a restaurant that I happened to love! :( But no matter — after this food trip, I fell in love with La Petite Camille as well!
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that La Petite Camille served Vietnamese food. I mean, from the sound of it, I had thought I was in for some European grub, but nope.
This was my view of the dining area from where I sat. I absolutely loved the mismatched furniture and lighting structures. What fun!
I started off dinner with some Summer Rolls (Php245), which I am highly recommending. The prawns, veggies, and rice wraps were to die for with the slightly sweet peanut sauce! Albeit coated with sauce, each bite left a cool, refreshing aftertaste.
I enjoyed every bit of the Chicken Salad (Php195) as well. Steamed chicken mixed with shredded cabbage, mint leaves, and ground peanuts. As the salad had mint leaves, the cool, refreshing aftertaste ensued. This bowl is a wonderful celebration of different flavors! It’s very rare to come across dishes that actually make that sort of fusion work, but La Petite Camille’s Chicken Salad was able to — and with flying colors.
And lastly, their Special Rice in Claypot (PhP265) rice bowl: slow-cooked jasmine rice topped with prawns, chicken, Chinese chorizo, and mixed vegetables. What I loved most about this were the chorizo slices. They were a bit spicy, but went fantastically with the sticky, slightly sweet rice and onion.
Everything in this lineup is good to share. And since I had the best time in La Petite Camille, I’ve already went as far as envisioning my next visit in which I’d most probably have some pho and coffee. Haha!
