Saturday mornings mean breakfast with my parents. Yesterday’s was extra special as my brother, Jae, came along and we spent it at Tower Club’s Baron’s Bar.
Here’s a backgrounder on Tower Club: ”Tower Club is a highly exclusive, premium business club, with membership comprising of the notable leaders and movers in our society today.” It’s essentially a place where the rich and famous come to dine, socialize, and stay fit.
As for us, we just came for breakfast! Hehehe :)
Here’s a shot of Baron’s Bar, located on the 33rd floor of the Philam Tower. Everything about the place screams classy: the plush furniture, the Orlina pieces lining the foyer, the majestic view of Makati’s skyline.
The Philam Tower is right smack in the middle of Makati’s CBD, so in sight were mostly office buildings. Look at that view! :)
While waiting for breakfast, I had a pot of Earl Grey tea. This variant might just be my new favorite — it’s less heavy, more refreshing than English Breakfast which was what I always used to get.
Mom and Pop each got a cup of brewed coffee, and Jae settled for mango juice.
My dad ordered Grilled Ham Steak (Php390), which was served with a light honey sauce, onion roasted potatoes, grilled mushroom and potato, two eggs and toast with butter/jam! Whew!
I found the ham to be extremely tender and I liked that it left a sweet, subtly toasty taste in the mouth after each bite. It really was a perfect complement to the slightly salty eggs and potatoes, and the sweet toast.
Jae had Breakfast Bacon (Php390), which is set apart form the Grilled Ham Steak by the meat alone. My brother enjoyed this for the most part, but hoped there were more bacon strips to devour.
Their toast (served on the side) came with a plateful of butter and assorted jams. Yum!
Mom’s choice, Creamy Chicken and Mushroom (Php370), was an obvious favorite. I mean, just look at it: chicken and mushroom on a bed of bread and topped off with a fried egg. Aside from the plating (which I thought was appetizing on its own), we especially liked the sauce — it was perfectly seasoned and extremely creamy, as guaranteed. I can’t tell for sure what was in that sauce, but I remember its slight cheesiness which was a good contrast.
My Corned Beef with Potato and Onion (Php310) was delicious, as expected. I’m a big fan of corned beef served with seasoned rice, so naturally, I enjoyed Baron’s Bar’s variety (which wasn’t particularly top-notch, but good nonetheless). I’ve never had atchara with my corned beef, so that was a welcome touch.
We capped off breakfast with cake, starting with their take on the Tiramisu. Each bite was still lip-smackingly good! Plus points, too, for its ability to stay fluffy despite the heavily moist core.
The majority, however, was sold on their Lemon Cheesecake. This is, by far, one of the best I’ve had. I will remember this for a long time!
So that’s it for our happy breakfast! Thanks for reading :)
